Art visions: "The view of things"
A photographic art project by Patrick Pollmeier.
It is the routine walk through the cities of our time. With a trained eye, the individual reliably navigates from A to B by familiar places, with few anchor points and without noticing what they have seen. Reduced to a few distinguishing features, the view misses all facets of the immanent.
This work pauses for a moment and breaks down what is being seen, to take a closer look. The individual gaze resembles an abstract memory: rough, emotional, fragmentary. However, in combination, this produces a bigger picture, which can be extended with each new perception of the anchor point. The routine walk through the city, therefore, becomes dissociated from the physical practice.
