Musicals, cabaret or theater – showtime in Hamburg
Europe's greenest city positively buzzes with art and culture: Hamburg offers world-class entertainment for every taste. Hamburg has more trees than people. Its signature landmarks include St. Michael's Church with its striking bell tower and the imposing Town Hall, which looks much like a parliament building. Canals, locally known as "Fleets", run through the city on the Elbe and connect Inner Alster Lake with the Port of Hamburg. Right on the water stands the world-famous musical theatre, whose musicals have long achieved cult status. The Thalia Theater, by contrast, showcases more classical and modern plays at a stage located near the Europa Passage shopping mall. Reeperbahn, Speicherstadt and Jungfernstieg The infamous Reeperbahn has long since arrived in the twentieth century and today offers tons of cabaret and comedy. Museums pepper the Speicherstadt district, while the Jungfernstieg promenade boasts upscale boutiques and jewelry stores. You can kick off your city tour from the IntercityHotel Hamburg-Altona and perhaps stroll through the Planten un Blomen park.
