A photographic art project by Philip Frowein.
In the works the two photographers have tried to put different, seemingly contradicting facets of Darmstadt into a relationship with one another. On the one hand, the artists concentrate on the Art Nouveau period which characterizes the architecture of Darmstadt, emphasizing the depiction of beauty as a promise to mankind. On the other hand, the photographers’ view encompasses Darmstadt as a city of science, which is full of technology. Hence, the observer is enabled to discover a Darmstadt which emphasizes the importance of the city and its characteristic features.
